Medical Training & Specialist Experience

Dr Tan Eng Loy's profile

Dr Tan Eng Loy graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2000 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He pursued his specialty training in obstetrics and gynaecology at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital and Singapore General Hospital, Singapore’s top tertiary institutions for women’s healthcare.

In 2006, he attained both the Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in the United Kingdom and the Master of Medicine (O&G) from NUS — a dual recognition of his clinical expertise and academic excellence.

From 2011 to 2012, Dr Tan sharpened his hands-on obstetric skills in a high-volume maternity unit under the UK National Health Service (NHS) in London. This international stint broadened his experience in managing complex pregnancies within a collaborative, patient-centred care system.

In 2018, in recognition of his contributions to the field, Dr Tan was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists (FRCOG) — a distinction awarded to senior specialists who have made significant impact in their field.

Before moving into private practice, Dr Tan served in the public healthcare system, progressing from Associate Consultant to Senior Consultant at the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Singapore General Hospital (2008–2021). During his tenure at SGH, he was actively involved in the care of women with medical or obstetric complications, developing a strong foundation in perinatal care and maternal medicine.

Today, Dr Tan continues to apply this breadth of experience in his private practice — providing personalised, evidence-based care to support women through healthy pregnancies and safe deliveries. He also continues to care for expectant mothers with gestational and pre-existing diabetes as a Visiting Consultant at Singapore General Hospital, ensuring continuity of care for women with medical conditions during pregnancy.
